What we are willing to do for our kids is mind-boggling. From birthday parties to after-school activities, there isn’t a direction that we will not bend over in order to give our kids the best opportunities for growth and maturation.

Currently, very few country clubs run programming for 7- to 14-year-olds. If they do, it teaters on childcare. With a little creativity, you can turn a parking lot or a wide grassy median into a sports training field.

If a members-only experience is what you are after, then veer away from sport-specific camps and clinics that require at least 10 kids to operate. Instead, run SAQ clinics (i.e., strength, agility, and quickness clinics) and group kids according to age. You don’t even have to separate by gender.

If you want prospective members (especially social members) to visit the club, then allow members’ kids to invite their friends to the camps. Now you can run lacrosse-fitness camps and hockey-conditioning clinics, for example.

Club members are currently sending their kids to these camps, just not at your club. Give your members another reason to visit the club; give them another reason to love their club.
