THE SOCIAL FITNESSING CHALLENGE

The first ever (as far as we know) national inter-(private)-club fitness challenge

Cost: Zippo

Deets (see below)

The Deets

What does it cost?

While there is no financial investment involved, someone at your club will need to spearhead the challenge.

When is it?

Monday, July 6 through Sunday, August 2

Who can participate?

Club members only (no guest ringers allowed).

Why are you doing this?

Because a recent survey indicated half of gym members do not plan on returning to their gyms when they reopen!

Because Thomas Plummer thinks 30% of commercial fitness centers may not ever reopen!

Because we want to help private club fitness centers during this very turbulent time.

What add'l support do you provide?

After you register you'll be provided a sample flyer, a marketing plan, and a few other resources.

What is required to register?

1. Someone at your club needs to take charge (i.e., communicate the challenge to members, track scoring, submit scoring, etc.)

2. Register by clicking here

Will my members need to contact you?

Not in any way. You collect the scores from your members, and enter the top 10 participants' scores into a shared scoreboard. We don't even need their names (we trust you :). You can use the scoreboard to show your members how they're competing against other clubs.

How will you know if we are cheating?

It's called challenge tracing... jk. Everything is "on your honor".

Are there prizes for the winning club?

Of course! A highly coveted plaque for the winning club - to be displayed proudly at your club (next to your club's golf trophy case/altar preferably - insert eye roll here).

Can we add more elements to the game?

You cannot change the rules above, but you can and should add more layers to increase member engagement. Here are a few ideas:

  • Create teams so that members compete against each other too, and have trainers be team captains.

  • Provide weekly educational materials to participants (e.g., highlight stretching equipment in your fitness center).

  • Host a post-game sober social.

  • Schedule group fitness classes for Social Fitnessing Challenge participants only.

  • Provide a complimentary personal training consult for participants.

  • Add prizes for individuals and teams.

  • Charge a fee for participation to help cover the cost of any prizes.
