Operating and executing a well-run, quality, private club fitness program is both a science and an art. The science lies in the heart of the daily operations and the fundamentals of exercise and healthy lifestyle habits. This is what draws members to a fitness facility in the first place.
The art is a much less defined, more complex task. This is the lifeblood of a successful program and is what keeps members coming back. At the heart of this is quality; quality staff, quality programming, quality relationships, and a quality experience. Quality is defined as the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence of something. When contemplating quality and what that looks like for your program, it is important not to overanalyze this definition. To determine the meaning of quality for your fitness program you must first assess your values. Every club is unique due to its offerings, location, and most importantly, its members. The values will be determined by these things and once assessed, you can then build out a program that will be of quality. Ensure that you are promoting programs, services, and experiences that are unique to your values and avoid taking a cookie cutter approach. Members choose your club because of the different values and environment you offer and it is important to keep this in mind when considering adding a fitness program or continuing to develop one. Rather than measuring your program against another club’s program, build your program to stand out and offer something truly special for your members.
